Lepakshi-Painting-Crop
This is a heavy cropped image of the previous photo taken at Lepakshi depicts the fine details of the clothes worn by people. This is a herbal painting done on the roof Lepakshi temple which is almost 500 years old. I am amazed with the impeccable record of the civilisation which existed at that time, which even produced a variety of clothing
An another important feature is the kind of head gear worn by the men in the paintings. An undoubted record of Vijayanagara dynasty. You can find the same kind of head gear being worn by all the members of Vijayanagara Dynasty in all their records(Paintings and sculptures) be it Hampi or Lepakshi or other places like Chandragiri near Tirupati etc.
Hi Srikant,
First time here, and Im happy that I folowed the link from Kaleidoscope's photoblog.
fantastic murals. I hope something is being done to retrieve the pictures. They must be narrating a story, I believe.
Does the dancers in the pillars also have a pattern? I mean, is there a definite progression, like the Karanas in Chidambaram? They seem to be ready to step out any moment, unlike some of the Chera Salabhanjikaas

Thank you :-) Indeed the greatest strength of Lepakshi is in the paintings. Unfortunately when I visited, I only had B/W films. So I missed the herbal colors.
